2020 Maple Month
Visit New Hampshire’s largest maple facility this spring. Bascom Maple Farms offers tours of our 105,000 tap operation each Saturday in March. Liz Bascom will be your guide. As you approach the buildings, you will see sap lines. Inside is our steam-fired evaporator that with reverse osmosis support draws of 55 gallons of maple syrup every 10 minutes. Also seen is two wireless monitors that check part of woods and saves time. Here there are charts of each season since 1954 (850 taps) and historical photos. You may see trucks hauling sap, although sap is also pumped up into tanks.
If drawing off syrup, you will be offered a sample of maple syrup after it passes through a 16″ filter press. Then you will visit the showroom containing maple history. Books and maple products can be purchased here.
